It has been about two months since the Iowa GIS Service Bureau held the first round of metadata training sessions. The first two day long sessions brought in dozens of representatives from county, state, regional, and federal agencies.
Since those first training sessions attendees have been letting the Service Bureau know that they took the lessons learned back their places of work. People realize that as they share more and more GIS data, the need for proper documentation is as important as the data itself.
There will be two more metadata training sessions in July with the exact date yet to be determined. We reached our limit for one of the two days last March, so stay tuned for an upcoming announcement.
