About Us

The Iowa GIS Service Bureau (IGSB) was officially formed in August 2011. The main goals of the IGSB are to promote usage of GIS throughout the state of Iowa, encourage cooperation among GIS professionals across the state, and provide GIS assistance and outreach among county and state government agencies.  Amy Logan and Evan Koester are GIS analysts with the Iowa GIS Service Bureau, which was started with funding from Iowa Pooled Technology fund.

Amy is currently providing metadata training to the Iowa GIS community with funding from Federal Geographic Data Committee. Amy came to Iowa from southeast Wisconsin and studied Biology and Environmental Studies at Luther College. After graduating she spent time working in northeast Iowa with natural resources and GIS. Amy continued her studies at Iowa State University, graduating with a masters in Community and Regional Planning. She then spent time researching affordable housing across Iowa.

Evan primarily works with the GIS community at the state level.  He graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelors degree in Geography. He worked with GIS at the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for two years before joining the Iowa GIS Service Bureau.
