We all enjoy a breeze on hot Iowa afternoons, but do you know where wind actually comes from? Wind is an energy created by uneven heating of the earth's surface which causes pressure differentials of atmospheric gases on the earth's surface. This active force has traditionally been represented on static maps using arrows to denote wind direction and colors to indicate wind speed.
