Human Services and the GIS Service Bureau Working Together

The Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) started a project recently that aims to increase the success rate of the Child Support Recovery Unit, when establishing child paternity in Iowa.  They are developing a GIS based model to investigate case characteristics and state demographics.  With the help of GIS, the group will better understand their caseload and be able to set more representative goals.

Last week the Iowa GIS Service Bureau gave a "What Is GIS" presentation for some members who will be using the model once developed.  The presentation gave an introduction to GIS and how different interests use it.

The Iowa GIS Service Bureau looks forward to working more with this DHS group in the future.
